It’s a difficult decision picking which butterfly option to go with when your getting your first My Butterfly so we’ve decided to give you a few facts about our butterflies to help you out.
The female Monarch butterfly can lay about 100 eggs on a single plant and the eggs hatch about four days after they are laid. They also have thicker wing veins than their Male counterparts.
The adult Monarch butterfly drinks nectar from a variety of species of flowers. This nectar proves to be the vital source of energy for these butterflies and they can fly from between 5 to 30 miles per hour
The Monarch Butterfly is also called a milkweed butterfly and breathes through its wings. They eat milkweed as a caterpillar and eats nectar as an adult butterfly
The Monarch Butterfly is the king of the insect world and in the wild they have a life span of 8-9 months and a wingspan of 8.6 – 12.4 cm
They can also migrate over 3,100 kilometers.
